Christmas 2012

We celebrated Christmas this year three times! First at our own at our apartment, second at my family's home, and third at Daniel's family's home. We had such a fun, sweet time seeing all our family and getting to celebrate the many gifts we've been given. These are a few pictures of the christmas decor at our place. And lastly a little video I took with the iPhone of our date in DC to see White Christmas (the musical) along with our Christmas Eve, and Christmas morning.

I found the tutorial here + added my own touches of a fawn and cardinal:

Daniel built us a faux "fire-place" which we filled with candles, he wants to perfect it before we share a tutorial. Therefore, I will post better pictures + the tutorial soon! It has been SO cozy though :)

One of the Christmas gifts Daniel gave me, scrabble tile magnets!

Merry & Bright

We were originally planning not to do Christmas cards this year, but last minute we decided to since it is our first Christmas, and the only time we can use a wedding photo.

Merriest of Christmases to you all! We are so blessed to have such wonderful family & friends in our lives. Thinking of and thanking our Savior who, so humbly, entered this world as a babe, to teach, love and SAVE us from death. May I grasp this more every year, every day.

It's Christmas time! (by the iPhone)

We have been doing all things seasonal lately. I can not get over how wonderful my husband is, and how life is even more so with him. This past weekend was full of sweet things.

We took an evening trip to Georgetown and it was simply splendid. I have never loved a little town so much in the first visit! The shops and really the whole city was decorated for Christmas! With the ice-skaters out skating next to the Potomac river, and the shoppers out, we looked around at so many neat shops, ate at this pizza place (best pizza of my life) and yes, we went to Georgetown cupcake ;).

We made a stop at Trader Joe's to buy some stocking stuffers (have you seen all their Christmas goodies?!! It is seriously so hard to shop healthy this time of year.) Candy cane Joe-Joe's are killer.

And then we made this video of decorating our tree, inspired by a few favorite bloggers I follow, Rockstar Diaries and Sittinginourtree :)  To see it in better quality & larger click HERE.

And then, finally, we made our gingerbread house, decorated cookies, and watched Holiday Inn in our pajamas. The end to the most lovely weekend. Enjoy!

sister sarah over!

Our sweet sister Sarah Helen came for a visit last weekend and it was SO wonderful & fun. I didn't take even two pictures so I am going to steal her beauties with her permission ;)

We had a little Christmas karaoke time Friday night using You-tube and also a little festive dancing :). SO MUCH FUN. A big breakfast together in the morning & a little Christmas shopping together in the afternoon. The Fredericksburg Christmas parade was Saturday night so we happily watched with warm cider in our hands. Thank so much for visiting, Sarah! We love you babyboo. xoxo

And now just a little snippet of our festive dancing. Thanks again, Sarah.

Two firsts.

Let's play catch-up! I've really been bad about taking photos this last month, so these will have to do for now.

We traveled home for our first newly-wed Thanksgiving (so blessed we still live close), it was so wonderful to be with both of our families again. My parent's farm looked simply beautiful in the thick of Fall. And Daniel's parent's home was cozy as ever. Talk about some good food! We are so blessed. Of course we could never list them all but here just a few of the things we are grateful for:

+Daniel becoming active duty in the United States Marine Corps!
+Our darling little apartment we get to make home.
+Flowers on the balcony.
+An amazing nannying job for me and the kindest family to work for.
+A second car!
+A wonderful new church.
+The start of new friendships in the military I am sure will last a long time.

On our way home from our parents house, we stopped in Richmond to check out REI, Daniel loves that store! Afterwards, at a lovely farmers market, we got our first Christmas tree! :)

It has been an absolute blast decorating the apartment for Christmas! But what has been even more fun is getting to make our own traditions that we and our future family will carry out for many years to come.  Oh goodness, I just love it.

To you and yours, happy belated Thanksgiving and may there be many memories made this merry season.

Baby Nephew

My newest nephew was born yesterday to my sister, Katie, and brother-in-law, Joshua! He was sent straight from heaven and melted my heart the moment I heard he was born. I couldn't wait until Thanksgiving to meet him and see my amazing sister & her husband, so I drove the couple of hours down this morning while Daniel had to work (but just for the morning, thankfully). I could only stay for an hour and a half, but it was SO worth it! Words can't express how happy and grateful I am as his aunt and how proud I am of my sister, having that baby all naturale! Woo, what a woman. And now for an adorableness overload...

                                                                               is she not the most b e a u t i f u l mother?

OK, I am dying to hold him again. Can't wait for Thanksgiving!

The best six months...

Sunday marked our six month anniversary! Oh my goodness, what an amazing time it has been! We celebrated with an afternoon in Fredericksburg, at Capital Ale House (they have the best burgers! & it's just a really cool spot). Sunday was the 'Burgs Holiday open house which means the Christmas decorations were out as well as some carolers! So lovely. We stopped at Carl's on our way out for some old-timey ice-cream cones. Good times, I love being married :)

I think being in Fredericksburg really got us in the Christmas mood...on our way home, we busted out the Christmas music and picked out our stockings from Target! Woohoo! We are so excited for our first holidays as newlyweds!

Sara
